Website terms of use & Online Multi-Quote & Buy System

The following sets out our terms and conditions, please read these carefully. By using this site and the online quote and buy system you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please exit this website.

Variations/Additional Terms

From time to time we may amend these terms and conditions without notice. You must therefore revisit this page on a regular basis for updated terms and conditions as you will be bound by these when using this site.

There may be additional terms and conditions which apply to products and services offered on this site. We will draw your attention to these whenever you browse or apply for these products or services.

Your responsibilities

So that you are able to obtain a quotation for an insurance or financial services product, you will need to answer a number of questions on our site. The answers you give will determine the amount you pay and the level of cover you receive.

It is important that you answer all questions accurately and that you disclose all relevant facts. If you do not provide your insurer or financial services provider with the information that they require or fail to tell them about changes or circumstances that are likely to influence the insurer’s/provider’s assessment of the risk, it could invalidate your insurance or product. If you are in any doubt about whether information supplied is relevant, please contact us on 03333 444 585, we will be more than happy to assist you.

By obtaining a quotation, you are confirming that you, your business and any other relevant individuals will meet the insurers’ requirements and will immediately notify us if any of those requirements cease to be met.

You should read and check all insurance documents issued to you and ensure that you are aware of the cover, limits and other terms that apply. Particular attention should be paid to terms and conditions of your policy as failure to comply with these conditions could invalidate the policy.

In the event of a claim, you should take note of the required procedures and guidelines stated in your policy documentation. And you must also note that you have an obligation to take reasonable steps to mitigate any loss or damage incurred.

Sales of Insurance Products

Policies are underwritten by either the sole insurer clearly stated on the website or by an insurer chosen by you. At the time of the quotation, the decision as to whether the insurer wishes to offer you the insurance cover is at the insurers’ discretion. All quoted premiums are subject to Insurance Premium Tax levied by the Government at the prevailing rate of 9.5% effective from 1st November 2015.

If the automated system is unable to provide you with a quotation, you will be asked to answer further questions. Your responses will then be sent over to the underwriters who will assess your application and decide whether or not they can provide you with an online quotation. If they choose not to accept you, your application will be brokered in the traditional manner and one of our brokers will contact you. You may be asked to complete a proposal form.

Once the insurance has been effected, (usually as soon as payment has been approved) you will receive an email with your policy schedule, relevant wordings, your proposal form and our own information sheets. You must confirm receipt of these documents. A link is sent to you in the email to enable you to confirm receipt automatically. You should keep a copy of all information submitted to or received from us for your own records.

Payment & Fees

We are either paid by the insurer(s) or the underwriter(s) with whom you have placed your insurance with. Should you require any further information about any commission received, please confirm this in writing.

My Business Cover is an appointed representative of Professional Insurance Agents Limited who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. My Business Cover does not hold client money.

You may pay your insurance premium by credit or debit card payment and will be taken to secure servers of one of our online payment providers, sage pay or secure trading. Your card details are not stored but are passed onto a third party for payment processing.

Our documents and renewal notices are despatched to you via email. In the event you would prefer for us to send you a hard copy we may apply an additional fee to cover our administration costs. This will also apply to mid-term adjustments and cancellation requests.

Where payment is not received, the insurer shall be entitled to terminate the policy or withdraw its quotation with immediate effect.

If you want to cancel within 14 days ‘Cooling Off Period’

We hope you’ll always tell us first if something’s not right, but here’s what to expect if you do decide to cancel your policy: You’ll receive a full refund if you cancel your cover within 14 days of setting it up (the ‘cooling-off’ period).

After this period, you may cancel the insurance by giving us 30 days written notice of your intention to do so. The insurer may cancel your policy by giving us written notice; the duration of which will be detailed in the policy wording, which we then forward onto you immediately.

Beyond the 14 day cooling off period

Beyond the 14 day cooling off period, cancellation terms may differ between insurers. Some insurers may be willing to return a pro-rata premium of up to 3 or 6 months after inception of the policy. However, after this period no refunds will be given. Any refunds may take up to 60 days to process.

Renewals – if you don’t want to renew your insurance

When your insurance policy comes to an end, we will automatically renew it for you. We will always notify you of the policy details, the premium before commencement of your new policy.

If you decide you not to go ahead with your new policy at renewal, just let us know before your renewal comes to an end. Remember to arrange new cover elsewhere – assuming you still require insurance if your policy comes to an end with My Business Cover.

This does not affect your right to cancel in line with My Business Cover cancellation policy.

Renewal – if we decide not to renew your insurance

Should your insurer decide not to invite you for renewal or if something changes and we decide not to renew your policy, we will always let you know in writing before the expiry of your renewal.

If you need to make a claim, you can notify us of your claim by contacting us on 03333 444 585 or by sending an email to [email protected] along with your policy number, full details of the claim, including the date, amount and circumstances of the loss.

You can also register your initial claim notification online. When registering a new claim please provide My Business Cover with as much detail as possible.
